ALT Ambassadors

In 2007 ALT created the new role of ALT Ambassador. Ambassadors provide informal advice to ALT on matters within their area of interest and act as advocates for ALT.

The ALT Ambassadors are:

  • John Taylor, who led the FE Self Regulation Implementation Team, and is a past Chair of the Board of Becta and past member of JISC. John retired as Principal and Chief Executive of The Sheffield College in August 2008, and was appointed Interim Principal of Doncaster College in June 2009;
  • Terry Mayes, Emeritus Professor at Glasgow Caledonian University, an Honorary Life Member of ALT, and currently acting in an advisory capacity with the HE Academy and the QAA Scotland;
  • Wendy Hall, CBE, DBE, FRS, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Southampton. Wendy, a founder member of ALT, is a member of the UK Government's Council for Science and Technology, and until 2008 was senior Vice President of the Royal Academy of Engineering. From July 2008 she was President of the Association for Computing Machinery. Wendy was made a Dame for services to science and technology, in the 2009 New Year Honours list. She was elected a a Fellow of the Royal Society in May 2009.
