Welcome to CMALT

CMALT is our portfolio-based professional accreditation scheme developed by ALT to enable people whose work involves learning technology to:

  • have their experience and capabilities certified by peers;
  • demonstrate that they are taking a committed and serious approach to their professional development.

CMALT holders are learning technology practitioners, teachers and researchers from across the educational and commercial sectors.

Support for CMALT candidates
Here you can find information on the accreditation process including how to build a portfolio, what support is available for candidates, how to submit your portfolio and assessment.

Portfolio Submission Form
Please use this form to submit your portfolio and e-mail the completed form and your portfolio or details of how to access it to If you have not previously registered for CMALT please complete a registration form and submit it together with you portfolio and the appropriate certification fee.

CMALT Community and Development Group
This community is there to support you while you are completing the CMALT scheme and beyond. Share your experiences and expertise or your questions and issues with like-minded peers and continue to your professional and personal development. The CMALT Development Group (CDG) is a new body of Certified Members of ALT formed in 2010 who take an active part in the scheme's activities and development.

Promotional initiatives for CMALT candidates
Information on current funding opportunties open to CMALT candidates can be found below. In 2010 ALT is delighted to promote a funding initiative supported by Digital 20/20 for the Yorkshire and Humberside area as well as the JISC TechDis CMALT Independent Specialist Colleges' initiative. Currently ALT also offer an initiative for unemployed CMALT candidates developed by the CMALT Development Group.

CMALT events for candidates and assessors
ALT runs regular webinars to support CMALT candidates, assessors and further the CMALT community. Individual candidates are encouraged to attend at least one CMALT webinar as part of completing the CMALT scheme. Places are available at webinars taking place throughout the year. CMALT webinars for groups of candidates
Organisations or regional groups who wish to put forward 5 or more individuals for CMALT may request ALT to run an internal webinar to support CMALT candidates using Elluminate. Please contact ALT in the first instance by emailing with a few details of your interest in CMALT, and how many potential candidates you would wish us to support.

CMALT email distribution list
You can sign up for occasional updates about CMALT by joining our low volume email distribution list. Simply complete the form below, and press the "Join" button.
